Tours guide

Show a tour as a map of joined-up stops with its itinerary underneath, beside your own tour pages.

What a tour is

A tour shows a trip of several stops as a map with the stops joined up, and its itinerary underneath, stop by stop. It suits a tour operator: put it beside your own tour description, prices and booking form, or let another site show it.

Each stop can be one of your listings, or any place. Under each stop, your listings nearby are shown, featured ones first, so a tour also leads visitors to the places you list. A tour can carry a sponsor, with its name, logo and link.

Tours are different from Trips: a tour is a picture of a journey to show people, while a trip is a working itinerary of live routes that travellers follow and that can be sold with dates.

Making a tour

1. Switch Tours on at the top of the Tours page. 2. Open the post or page about the tour; a Tour box is under the editor. 3. Add the stops in order, each with a name, a place and, if you like, a few words and the number of nights. 4. Choose how each leg travels: coach, train, plane, ferry, car or on foot. 5. Publish.

The tour shows at the end of its post by itself. To place it elsewhere, use [pinscribe tour="123"], or [pinscribe tour="123" tour_map="yes"] for the map alone.

Showing a tour on another website

The Share button on any tour’s map gives embed code for another website, such as a partner’s or an operator’s own site. Every embed carries a “View on” link back to yours. Embedding can be switched off under Settings → More options.
