Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This policy explains what information pinscribe.app (“Pinscribe”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. Pinscribe is run by Descent Digital in the United Kingdom.
Who to contact
If you have any question about your information, or want to use any of your rights below, email us at descentdigitaluk@gmail.com. We will reply within one month.
What we collect and why
- When you browse. Like every website, our server receives your IP address and basic details of your browser so it can send you the page. We keep standard server logs for security for a short time.
- Map use. We count how our maps are used, such as how often a place is opened. These counts contain no cookies, IP addresses or anything else that identifies you.
- Suggestions. If you suggest a place or event, we keep the name and email address you give so we can review it and contact you about it. Suggestions we reject are deleted after 30 days, and ones we accept are deleted once we have written them up.
- Accounts and reviews. If you sign up to write reviews, we keep your username, email address and the reviews you post. Reviews are shown publicly with your display name.
- Payments. If you pay to feature a listing, payment is handled by our online shop and its payment provider. We keep the order, the amount, the date and which listing it was for. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your location. If you use “Near me”, your browser asks your permission first. Your location is used only in your browser to sort places by distance. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
We use this information to run the website, answer you, review suggestions, process payments and keep the site secure. Our legal bases are your consent (for advertising and marketing cookies), the contract with you (for payments and accounts) and our legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies, such as local storage. Some are needed for the site to work, for example to keep you signed in or to remember your shopping basket. Others are used for advertising and for affiliate links, and these are only used with your consent where the law requires it. Our maps themselves set no cookies.
Advertising and Google
We show adverts through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Other ad vendors and networks that work with Google may also use cookies to serve ads.
- Personalised ads are chosen using information about your interests, built from your browsing on this and other sites.
- Non-personalised ads are chosen only from general information, such as the page you are reading and your rough location (for example your town or country). They still use cookies to limit how often you see an ad, to measure results and to prevent fraud.
If you visit from the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through a consent message before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used. If you do not consent, you may still see non-personalised or limited ads.
Managing or withdrawing your consent
- You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the privacy or cookie settings link shown on the site.
- You can turn off personalised ads from Google in Google’s Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other companies at youronlinechoices.eu (or aboutads.info outside Europe).
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
Affiliate links
Some links to hotels, tours and other travel bookings, such as “Book now” and “Stays nearby”, are affiliate links. If you book through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate partner Stay22 (stay22.com) may set cookies to record that you came from us, if you accept marketing cookies. The booking itself is made with the travel site you choose, under its own privacy policy.
Other services we use
- Maps. Our maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap data. To show a map, your browser loads map images and data from the map provider, which receives your IP address.
- Place search. If you search for a town or address, the words you type are sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to find the place, which also receives your IP address.
- Videos. Some pages include YouTube or Vimeo videos. These services may set cookies when you play a video.
- Directions and sharing. “Get directions” opens Google Maps, and share buttons open the service you choose. Nothing is sent to them unless you click.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it: suggestions as set out above, accounts until you ask us to close them, and payment records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting (usually six years in the UK).
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it or to object to how we use it. Email us at the address above. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
