Blog maps guide
Turn the places you write about into a map: every post becomes a pin, a card and a place search engines understand.
How a blog post gets on the map
A post goes on the map when all three are true: it has the map category or tag (chosen under Blog settings), its Map location box has a location, and it is published. Saving it updates the map straight away.
Its title, featured image and link make the pin; its SEO description, or its excerpt, makes the card. Nothing separate needs keeping up to date: edit the post and the map follows.
A category or tag decides whether a post is on the map at all. Its listing type (under Directories) decides how its pin looks and where its card goes.
Keeping map posts out of the blog
Map posts are ordinary posts, so they also appear in your blog. To keep them on the map only, tick where to leave them out under Blog settings → More options: the blog page, RSS feeds, search results, archives, or “latest posts” blocks.
Nothing is changed on the posts: each keeps its address, its place in your sitemap and its category page.
The end of each map post
Every map post can end with its details as cards (contact, hours, a summary, a small map and Get directions), or just a small map. Then Also nearby: the closest few other listings, as cards, which keeps readers moving from post to post and links your posts together, as search engines like.
To place these yourself, for example in an Elementor single post template, untick “At the end of each listing” and use the Pinscribe listing details block or widget, [pinscribe_details] and [pinscribe_nearby].
Card sets and “top five” posts
A card set is a hand-picked list in your order: the tool for “The five best breweries in Wales”. Sets are numbered, and so are their pins, so number 3 in the post is number 3 on the map.
To build one fast, choose a view area or continent in the In menu, press Add all shown, then drag them into order. Place it with [pinscribe set="best-breweries"]: add list="only" for the numbered list alone, cards="only" for the cards alone, or heading="no" when the post has its own. Change a set and every post using it updates.
Listings in your sidebar
The Pinscribe listings carousel puts a small run of listing cards in a sidebar: one at a time, with an Explore the map button that opens the main map on whichever is showing. Choose the latest listings, featured ones, a card set or one type.
Add it as a block, as the Pinscribe listings widget under Appearance → Widgets, or with [pinscribe_carousel]. It moves on gently by itself, pausing when someone hovers or taps, and not at all for visitors who ask their device to reduce motion.
