Members & reviews guide
Member accounts, reviews, business owners and your email list.
Member accounts and saved places
Switch on accounts and every listing gets a heart. Members find what they saved with the Saved button on the map and on their account page, along with their reviews, their trips and email choice. Members use ordinary WordPress accounts, so they are listed under Users.
On the account page each saved place has a cross to remove it, which asks first. With Trips switched on, members can also plan a trip from their saved places and send it to you to book (see the Trips guide). Listings a business owner manages each have their own card, which folds away.
A Sign in button can sit in each map’s bar. Put the sign-in box anywhere else with [pinscribe_login], and the account page with [pinscribe_account].
Reviews
Signed-in members can rate and review a listing, one review each. Reviews are kept with your comments, where you approve, edit or bin them, and the average rating shows on the listing’s card, and to search engines.
Spam is kept out without a puzzle: no web links in reviews, a hidden trap and a timer, daily limits, your Discussion settings’ word lists, and Akismet if you have it.
Business owners
Each listing gets an “Is this your business?” link. You approve each claim under Owner claims (ring the number given, or check it against the business’s own website, first). Owners then keep their contact details, opening hours and description up to date from their account page, and can pay to be featured or to take over the site’s ads for a time. Each listing they manage has its own card there, which they can fold away.
Your email list
An unticked box on the sign-up form and account page lets members agree to hear from you. Only those who tick it are in the list you can download, with the date they agreed, ready for Mailchimp, Brevo or Klaviyo. You can block a member there too.
